Team Georgiou continues to reach out to local communities across Australia through contributions and active participation in charity based sporting events, and  sponsorships of worthy community programs which enhance the quality of life of our world and its people.

Georgiou encourages its employees to participate in making their communities better places to live and work, by supporting the people, places and environments in which we serve.

WaterAid is an international charity with a mission to overcome poverty by enabling the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.

Georgiou are proud to provide PR and Marketing services on the WaterAid WA Committee, and are active sponsors for WaterAid's fundraising events throughout the year, including the Annual WaterAid National Golf Day and West Australian WaterAid Ball.

Georgiou’s team of keen cyclists annually participates in the HBF Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma. As a unique fundraising event for the Asthma Foundation of Western Australia it has evolved into WA's largest mass participation cycling event.

Riding for the Disabled Association of Western Australia (RDAWA) is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation whose primary aim is to develop the abilities and enrich the lives of people living with disabilities by providing therapeutic and recreational horse activities. During the year Georgiou staff raised more than $10,000 and sponsored fundraising activities through the 2009 WA Avon Descent to assist the association.

Georgiou were proud to be local rider jersey sponsors of the 2009 Tour de Perth. Travis Meyer and Davina Summers were the final deserving two that sported the jerseys.

As part of our sponsorship, Georgiou provided support to the tour by taking the role of “service vehicle drivers”, carrying spare parts and wheels for the cyclists along the tour route.

The Breast Cancer Foundation of Western Australia (BCFWA)’s objective is to create education, awareness and support programs across the nation. On 19th June 2009, BCFWA promoted Purple Bra Day, a day where sponsoring a colleague to wear a purple bra on the outside helped raise funds for BCFWA to continue providing emotional and financial support to ladies and their families affected by Breast Cancer. Team Georgiou were proud to get involved and celebrate such a worthy cause.

Georgiou was the proud sponsor of the “Cats in Two Hats” team (Zoran Gacik and Lorica Storey) in the Channel Nine Variety “The Great Deserts Bash”, 18th -29th August.
 
Their fundraising efforts contribute towards many vital resources for our regional schools and many enriching projects such as Noah’s Ark Toy Library – a mobile service assisting children with intellectual and physical disability.
The Activ City to Surf is Western Australia’s largest community-sporting event across the state and the second largest across the nation. Team Georgiou are annually seen to be keen runners and walkers from Perth city to City Beach in the HBF Activ City to Surf.
The Channel 7 Perth Telethon continues to raise funds for three main beneficiaries: Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research and the Telethon Speech and Hearing Centre. Team Georgiou is proud to be annual volunteers in the Telethon phone rooms, helping to receive phone pledges from across the State.

The 2010 Rottnest Channel Swim was held on 20th February, with a solo entrant from Georgiou - Greg Hancock. The race departed from Cottesloe Beach and finished at Thomson Bay, Rottnest Island, with a total distance of 19.7km. Greg completed the challenge in a time of 8 hours and 28 minutes. Via swimmers' participation, the Rottnest Channel Swim Association are able to raise funds for Everyday Hero, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Fremantle Volunteer Sea Rescue Group, the Leewin Ocean Adventure Foundation and the Starlight Foundation.

Team Georgiou Queensland made their debut in August 2009 at The Sunday Mail Bridge to Brisbane fun run, racing 5km beside the Brisbane River, and along the Inner City Bypass, before heading into the EKKA Showgrounds. Proceeds from every registration support this year’s major charity beneficiary - the Heart Foundation, as well as the Rotary Club of Port Brisbane and the Brisbane Macgregor Lions.

The Blackwood Marathon is a relay race held annually on the last Saturday of October from Boyup Brook to Bridgetown. The competitors enter this event in teams comprising of 5 members, or iron-men: a runner, canoeist, swimmer, equestrian and cyclist.

This year saw Team Georgiou make an appearance in the Corporate division of the Blackwood, held on October 31st.

Via staff casual days, over $6000 has been raised for the Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day, the Movember Foundation for men’s health and the Leukemia Foundation’s Shave for a Cure initiative.
